2010 - 2011 SEASON

EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING

The second installment of Theatre East’s Educational Program NEW RITES COLLECTIVE focused on empowering the students’ voices through play writing. Led by Playwright Raquel Almazan, 16 students created their own work that was then performed with the help of professional actors from the New York community.

Participating Teaching Artists: Raquel Almazan, Judson Jones, Jeremy Stuart, Daryl Wendy Strauss, and Sean Turner

MAIN STAGE

Daniel MacIvor’s play surrounds David’s family gathered by his bed at home as he lies in a coma and dreams of his secret life. We witness his two sisters, Tish and Judy, his brother-in-law, Sam, and his partner Richard wrestle with emotions—and sometimes each other—as they struggle to come to terms with losing David. What would he want? They all come up with the same answer: “If David had his way we’d all be dancing.”

Featuring Nick Cianfrogna, William Franke, Heather Hill, Bryan Jarrett, Christa Kimlicko Jones, Denny Lawrence, Helen Merino, and Joseph Mitchell Parks
