Theatre East is a New York-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit theatre company committed to ensemble collaboration through production of vivid theatrical works that explore our mortality and the shared human experience. We seek to build community by confronting isolation, allowing for a better understanding of our audience and ourselves.
By keeping ticket prices affordable because we believe that theatre is not a luxury but should be accessible to everyone, no matter one's economic or social status.
Theatre East produces provocative theatre of the highest quality through simple storytelling that addresses the most fundamental aspects of the human experience.
- can teach us about humanity's place in history.
- catalyze critical thinking.
By providing post-show discussion forums that
- enable a greater connection to the world and to each other.
By producing theatre that depends upon collaboration and effective communication among smart, respectful, courageous, and versatile artists.
By engaging students through the New Rites Collective because we believe that the arts should play an active role in education.
